Chicken tonight!

Cumbria, England, 2004

Harris’s Hawk breeds in the wild from the southwestern USA south to Chile and central Argentina. Harris’s Hawks are now the most popular hawks in the West for falconry because they are the easiest to train.

This hawk is displaying mantling behaviour, shielding the prey with the wings in an apparent attempt to hide it from other birds.
